UNI-que Dining at Iowa Campus
Passaic, NJ - March 22, 2005 - The balance between transmitting light and providing privacy demonstrates the versatility of Bendheim's LINIT U-Profile glass in the Rialto dining facility at the University of Northern Iowa. Located in the Tower Center on the Cedar Falls, IA campus, the SGCC certified tempered safety glass installation serves as an expansive curved divider in this facility designed by RDG Planning and Design.
The Rialto, which opened in August 2004, offers a wide variety of appetizing, easily cooked meals to fit the active student lifestyle, including international and ethnic selections. LINIT U-Profile glass allows the sun light to stream into a dining area built for student comfort and coziness, accommodating individuals or groups up to 12.
This interior project, installed by Netom Enterprises, is the first application of Bendheim Wall Systems' U-Profile glass in Iowa. Recent projects awarded to Bendheim Wall Systems, Inc. include the Diller Scofidio + Renfro designed Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and the Steven Holl/Rogers Marvel designed Pratt Institute-Higgins Hall in New York. The Bendheim LINIT U-Profile glass system eliminates the need for most vertical and intermediate horizontal framing members. The translucent, structural glazing system meets or exceeds most project design criteria providing light, function, and clean design.
S.A. Bendheim Company, Inc. was founded in 1927 as an importer and distributor of specialty glass products. From its inception, Bendheim has worked together in partnership with the Lamberts glass factory, founded 1889 in Germany. Today Bendheim Wall Systems, Inc. and Lamberts are bringing LINIT U-Profile glass from Lamberts' environment friendly, state-of-the-art factory to North America.
